Landscapes of Slovenia + Croatia + More…

One of the most overlooked photography regions in the entire world is lingering right in front of our noses in Europe. The Adriatic region is just incredible. Lake Bled, Vintgar Gorge, Plitvice Lakes, and the Soča River are all natural wonders—especially in the fall. Cities like Piran, Split, Mostar, and Dubrovnik are perfectly special, each in their own unique way.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the region, and have built a photography itinerary that starts in Slovenia and then winds down through mountains, rivers, coastlines, waterfalls, and just phenomenially beautiful scenery to Dubrovnik.

This photography tour of Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina will definitely fill your memory card. But moreso, it will fill you with the urge to just keep coming back for more.

The Itinerary

The goal of this trip was to provide as many photo opportunities as possible. I don’t want us to feel like we’re rushing and missing images. But I also want us to cover a lot of ground and capture a diverse set of images. I’ve travelled this route before, and it’s one of the most underrated photo routes in the world.

October 15, 2027 – We’ll arrive in Ljubljana and head out to Lake Bled
October 16, 2027 – Our photo goals today are Lake Bled, Vintgar Gorge, and Vogel Viewpoint
October 17, 2027 – We’ll leave Bled and head into the Soča Valley Area. The water colour here is wild. We’ll end in the town of Bovec.
October 18, 2027 – Continuing down the coast, we’ll head to Predjama Castle and end in beautiful Piran.
October 19, 2027 – Piran to Plitvice. We’ll arrive at Plitvice Lakes National Park for the afternoon.
October 20, 2027 – We’ll have the entire day to photograph Plitvice Lakes.
October 21, 2027 – Driving south to Split, we’ll stop at Krka National Park.
October 22, 2027 – After sunrise in Split, we’ll… split for Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
October 23, 2027 – We’ll spend the entire day photographing this truly beautiful city.

Kotor, Montenegro Add-On

It’s no secret that Kotor is one of my favourite cities in the world. Montenegro in general is stunning. It almost feels a shame to head all the way to Dubrovnik and miss out on stunning Kotor, just a 90 minute drive away.

There is the option for an add-on.

The Kotor Add-On has a mini-itinerary like this:
October 25, 2027 – Spend one extra night in Dubrovnik for more photo ops.
October 26, 2027 – Transfer to Kotor. Photography in the City
October 27, 2027 – Full day photography in Kotor.
October 28, 2027 – Morning photography in Kotor area, return to Dubrovnik.
October 29, 2027 – Tour ends after breakfast.

The cost of the Kotor add-on is €1,300 per person. If you’d like to join, it will be added to your final payment.

FAQs for This Photo Workshop

What’s a Single Supplement?

The tour price is based on twin occupancy. That means that if you’re booking as an individual, you’ll be placed in a room with another participant of the same gender. Obviously, in seperate beds. However, if you’d like your own private room for the duration of the trip, you’ll need to book a single supplement.

Is There Lots of Hiking/Walking

Let me just say that there’s as much or as little as you’d like. You don’t need to hike to enjoy many of the places on this trip. But you’ll get the most out of places like Plitivice Lakes by walking around the park. There’s lots of walks. But not a lot of major strenous hiking – unless you want to go out of your way to do that.

What’s the accommodation like?

The accommodation is entirely in hotel or guesthouses and they will all be at least 3-star quality. Sometimes 4-star.

What is the transport situation?

It will be done in vans that seat a maximum capacity of 9 passengers. We’ll never be more than 6 in one van to keep things comfortable.

Maximum participants?

We have a maximum of 10 on this trip. If there are more than 6 participants, I’ll be bringing on an assistant to help and drive a second vehicle.

Will we be in peak autumn colours?

Obviously, things change year to year. However, the window we’ll be travelling is the most common window for peak colours in the region.

I want to spend a couple days exploring Ljubljana. Can I do that?

Honestly, Ljubljana might be Europe’s most underrated city. I feel bad leaving off the itinerary. But I wanted to focus more on the landsacpes. Yes, you should definitely arrive a couple days early to explore the city if you can. Before the trip, we’ll have a WhatsApp group and you can usually meet up with others that will be doing the same thing.

Can’t Join?

Obviously, we wish you could join. If you can’t I’d love for you to join me on another trip at some point in the future.
